2021-10-28all: go fix -fix=buildtag std cmd (except for bootstrap deps, vendor)Russ Cox
When these packages are released as part of Go 1.18, Go 1.16 will no longer be supported, so we can remove the +build tags in these files. Ran go fix -fix=buildtag std cmd and then reverted the bootstrapDirs as defined in src/cmd/dist/buildtool.go, which need to continue to build with Go 1.4 for now. Also reverted src/vendor and src/cmd/vendor, which will need to be updated in their own repos first. Manual changes in runtime/pprof/mprof_test.go to adjust line numbers. For #41184. The old os references are still valid, but update our code to reflect best practices and get used to the new locations. Code compiled with the bootstrap toolchain (cmd/asm, cmd/dist, cmd/compile, debug/elf) must remain Go 1.4-compatible and is excluded. For #41190. 2019-10-08syscall: on wasm, do not panic if "process" global is not definedRichard Musiol
When running wasm in the browser, the "process" global is not defined. This causes functions like os.Getpid() to panic, which is unusual. For example on Windows os.Getpid() returns -1 and does not panic. This change adds a dummy polyfill for "process" which returns -1 or an error. It also extends the polyfill for "fs". 2019-08-02all: remove os.ErrTimeoutDamien Neil
It is unclear whether the current definition of os.IsTimeout is desirable or not. Drop ErrTimeout for now so we can consider adding it (or some other error) in a future release with a corrected definition. 2019-08-01all: remove os.ErrTemporaryDamien Neil
As discussed in https://github.com/golang/go/issues/32463#issuecomment-506833421 the classification of deadline-based timeouts as "temporary" errors is a historical accident. I/O timeouts used to be duration-based, so they really were temporary--retrying a timed-out operation could succeed. Now that they're deadline-based, timeouts aren't temporary unless you reset the deadline. Drop ErrTemporary from Go 1.13, since its definition is wrong. We'll consider putting it back in Go 1.14 with a clear definition and deprecate net.OpError.Temporary. As proposed in Issue #29934, update errors produced by the os package to work with errors. Is sentinel tests. For example, errors. Is(err, os.ErrPermission) is equivalent to os.IsPermission(err) with added unwrapping support. Move the definition for os.ErrPermission and others into the syscall package. Add an Is method to syscall.Errno and others. Add an Unwrap method to os.PathError and others. 2018-11-20syscall: add dummy SIGTERM constant to js/wasmRichard Musiol
The js/wasm architecture does not support signals at all, but there are already some signal constants defined because of stdlib dependencies. This change adds a dummy constant for syscall.SIGTERM as well, to make js/wasm compatible with more existing Go code. There is the Go proverb "Syscall must always be guarded with build tags.", so code should not expect syscall.SIGTERM to exist. Still, adding SIGTERM should do more good than harm. Fixes #28719. 2018-07-31syscall: remove support for O_NONBLOCK and O_SYNC on js/wasmRichard Musiol
This commit removes O_NONBLOCK on js/wasm. O_SYNC can't be removed, because it is referenced by the os package, so instead its use returns an error. On Windows, the options O_NONBLOCK and O_SYNC are not available when opening a file with Node.js. This caused the initialization of the syscall package to panic. The simplest solution is to not support these two options on js/wasm at all. Code written for js/wasm is supposed to be portable, so platform-specific options should not be used. Fixes #26524.
