Support for operating system versions requiring this fallback path was dropped from recent Go versions. The minimum Linux kernel version is 2.6.32 as of Go 1.18. FreeBSD 10 is no longer supported as of Go 1.13. 2021-10-28all: go fix -fix=buildtag std cmd (except for bootstrap deps, vendor)Russ Cox
When these packages are released as part of Go 1.18, Go 1.16 will no longer be supported, so we can remove the +build tags in these files. Ran go fix -fix=buildtag std cmd and then reverted the bootstrapDirs as defined in src/cmd/dist/buildtool.go, which need to continue to build with Go 1.4 for now. Also reverted src/vendor and src/cmd/vendor, which will need to be updated in their own repos first. Manual changes in runtime/pprof/mprof_test.go to adjust line numbers. For #41184. Illumos supports the accept4 syscall, use it in internal/poll.accept like on other platforms. Add Accept4 to package syscall despite the package being frozen. The other option would have been to add this to internal/syscall/unix, but adding it to syscall avoids duplicating a lot of code in internal/poll and net/internal/socktest. Also, all other platforms supporting the accept4 syscall already export Accept4. These a series of changes fix inconsistent errors on the package net APIs. Now almost all the APIs return OpError as a common error type except Lookup, Resolve and Parse APIs. The Lookup, Resolve and Parse APIs return more specific errors such as DNSError, AddrError or ParseError. An OpError may contain nested error information. For example, Dial may return an OpError containing a DNSError, AddrError, unexposed type/value or other package's type/value like the following: OpError{/* dial info */, Err: &DNSError{}} OpError{/* dial info */, Err: &AddrError{}} OpError{/* dial info */, Err: <unexposed type or value>} OpError{/* dial info */, Err: <other package's type or value>} and Read and Write may return an OpError containing other OpError when an application uses io.Copy or similar: OpError{/* for io.Reader */, Err: &OpError{/* for io.Writer */}} When an endpoint is created for connection-oriented byte-stream protocols, Read may return an io.EOF when the connection is closed by remote endpoint.
