2023-03-10cmd/compile: pass type checker error codes in the compilerRobert Griesemer
Pass type checker error codes to base.ErrorfAt function calls in the compiler (but don't do anything yet with the code). Also, provide error codes to base.ErrorfAt calls in the compiler as needed. This opens the door towards reporting the error code and/or providing a link/reference to more detailed explanations (see internal/types/errors/codes.go). 2022-05-16cmd/compile: remove base.Ctxt.Pkgpath fallback pathsMatthew Dempsky
Historically, the compiler set types.LocalPkg.Path to "", so a lot of compiler code checks for this, and then falls back to using base.Ctxt.Pkgpath instead. Since CL 393715, we now initialize types.LocalPkg.Path to base.Ctxt.Pkgpath, so these code paths can now simply rely on Pkg.Path always being meaningful. Updates #51734. 2021-06-13[dev.typeparams] cmd/compile: move //go:embed -lang check to noderMatthew Dempsky
User errors should be reported in noder and/or typecheck, we already know the -lang flag's value during noding, and checking it then works better for unified IR. The "multiple files for type" and "cannot apply to var of type" errors should also be moved to typecheck, but then they'd have to be duplicated for -G=3 mode (because it avoids typecheck). So those are left behind for now. 2021-01-22[dev.regabi] all: merge master (dab3e5a) into dev.regabiMatthew Dempsky
This merge had two conflicts to resolve: 1. The embed code on master had somewhat substantially diverged, so this CL tediously backported the changes to dev.regabi. In particular, I went through all of the embed changes to gc/{embed,noder,syntax}.go and made sure the analogous code on dev.regabi in noder/noder.go and staticdata/embed.go mirrors it. 2. The init-cycle reporting code on master was extended slightly to track already visited declarations to avoid exponential behavior. The same fix is applied on dev.regabi, just using ir.NameSet instead of map[ir.Node]bool.
