Several binary parsing paths in apply.c still report only line
numbers. When more than one patch input is fed to a single
invocation, that does not tell the user which input the line belongs
to.
Report the patch input location for corrupt and unrecognized binary
patches, as well as the "patch with only garbage" case, and update
the related tests.

numbers. When applying more than one input, that does not tell the
user which input the line belongs to.
Report the patch input location for these header parsing errors, and
update the related tests.
While touching parse_git_diff_header(), update the helper state to use
the current header line when reporting these errors.

When parsing a corrupt patch, git apply reports only the line number.
That does not tell the user which input the line number refers to.
Include the patch input path in the error message so the reported
location is easier to use.
Reset the line number for each patch input so the reported location stays
correct when multiple input files are provided.
Add tests for file input, standard input, multiple patch inputs, and
existing binary-diff corrupt patch cases.

"git apply" internally uses unsigned long for line numbers and uses
strtoul() to parse numbers on the hunk headers. It however forgot
to check parse errors.

"git apply" uses strtoul() to parse the numbers in the hunk header but
silently ignores overflows. As LONG_MAX is a legitimate return value for
strtoul() we need to set errno to zero before the call to strtoul() and
check that it is still zero afterwards. The error message we display is
not particularly helpful as it does not say what was wrong. However, it
seems pretty unlikely that users are going to trigger this error in
practice and we can always improve it later if needed.

Now that the default value for TEST_PASSES_SANITIZE_LEAK is `true` there
is no longer a need to have that variable declared in all of our tests.
Drop it.

Mark some tests that match "*apply*" as passing when git is compiled
with SANITIZE=leak. They'll now be listed as running under the
"GIT_TEST_PASSING_SANITIZE_LEAK=true" test mode (the "linux-leaks" CI
target).

As a follow-up to d162b25f956 (tests: remove support for
GIT_TEST_GETTEXT_POISON, 2021-01-20) remove most uses of test_i18ncmp
via a simple s/test_i18ncmp/test_cmp/g search-replacement.
I'm leaving t6300-for-each-ref.sh out due to a conflict with in-flight
changes between "master" and "seen", as well as the prerequisite
itself due to other changes between "master" and "next/seen" which add
new test_i18ncmp uses.

Ever since v1.7.9.2~13 (2012-02-01), git's diffstat-style summary line
produced by "git apply --stat", "git diff --stat", and "git commit"
varies by locale, producing test failures when GETTEXT_POISON is set.

Many test scripts assumed that they will start in a 'trash' subdirectory
that is a single level down from the t/ directory, and referred to their
test vector files by asking for files like "../t9999/expect". This will
break if we move the 'trash' subdirectory elsewhere.
To solve this, we earlier introduced "$TEST_DIRECTORY" so that they can
refer to t/ directory reliably. This finally makes all the tests use
it to refer to the outside environment.
With this patch, and a one-liner not included here (because it would
contradict with what Dscho really wants to do):

If a patch modifies the last line of a file that previously had no
terminating '\n', it looks like
-old text
\ No newline at end of file
+new text
Hence, a '\' line does not signal the end of the hunk. This modifies
'git apply --recount' to take this into account.

Sometimes, the easiest way to fix up a patch is to edit it directly, even
adding or deleting lines. Now, many people are not as divine as certain
benevolent dictators as to update the hunk headers correctly at the first
try.
So teach the tool to do it for us.

As a general principle, we should not use "git diff" to validate the
results of what git command that is being tested has done. We would not
know if we are testing the command in question, or locating a bug in the
cute hack of "git diff --no-index".
Rather use test_cmp for that purpose.

This uses "git-apply --whitespace=strip" to fix whitespace errors that have
crept in to our source files over time. There are a few files that need
to have trailing whitespaces (most notably, test vectors). The results
still passes the test, and build result in Documentation/ area is unchanged.

Now that "git diff" handles stdin and relative paths outside the
working tree correctly, we can convert all instances of "diff -u"
to "git diff".
This commit is really the result of

We use 'A' for added files instead of 'N' to make the it
visually easier to distinguish from 'M' now.
While we are at it, make the test scripts executable. Yes, I
know it does not matter because t/Makefile runs them explicitly
with "sh tXXXX-blah.sh", but being consistent is always better.
