Merge branch 'rc/configure-use-libs-when-checking-a-lib' into maint
The "configure" script did not test for -lpthread correctly, which
upset some linkers.
* rc/configure-use-libs-when-checking-a-lib:
configure.ac: use $LIBS not $CFLAGS when testing -lpthread
