2025-07-09runtime: run TestSignalDuringExec in its own process groupMichael Anthony Knyszek
TestSignalDuringExec sends a SIGWINCH to the whole process group. However, it may execute concurrently with other copies of the runtime tests, especially through `go tool dist`, and gdb version <12.1 has a bug in non-interactive mode where recieving a SIGWINCH causes a crash. This change modifies SignalDuringExec in the testprog to first fork itself into a new process group. To avoid issues with Ctrl+C and the new process group hanging, the new process blocks on a pipe that is passed down to it. This pipe is automatically closed when its parent exits, which should ensure that the subprocess also exits. Fixes #58932. 2023-07-18runtime: decrement netpollWaiters in netpollunblockIan Lance Taylor
We used to decrement it in netpollgoready, but that missed the common case of a descriptor becoming ready due to I/O. All calls to netpollgoready go through netpollunblock, so this shouldn't miss any decrements we missed before. 2021-12-13all: gofmt -w -r 'interface{} -> any' srcRuss Cox
And then revert the bootstrap cmd directories and certain testdata. And adjust tests as needed. Not reverting the changes in std that are bootstrapped, because some of those changes would appear in API docs, and we want to use any consistently. Instead, rewrite 'any' to 'interface{}' in cmd/dist for those directories when preparing the bootstrap copy. A few files changed as a result of running gofmt -w not because of interface{} -> any but because they hadn't been updated for the new //go:build lines. Fixes #49884. 2019-10-09all: remove the nacl port (part 1)Brad Fitzpatrick
You were a useful port and you've served your purpose. Thanks for all the play. A subsequent CL will remove amd64p32 (including assembly files and toolchain bits) and remaining bits. The amd64p32 removal will be separated into its own CL in case we want to support the Linux x32 ABI in the future and want our old amd64p32 support as a starting point. 2017-06-14runtime, syscall: reset signal handlers to default in childIan Lance Taylor
Block all signals during a fork. In the parent process, after the fork, restore the signal mask. In the child process, reset all currently handled signals to the default handler, and then restore the signal mask. The effect of this is that the child will be operating using the same signal regime as the program it is about to exec, as exec resets all non-ignored signals to the default, and preserves the signal mask. We do this so that in the case of a signal sent to the process group, the child process will not try to run a signal handler while in the precarious state after a fork. Fixes #18600. 2016-03-01all: make copyright headers consistent with one space after periodBrad Fitzpatrick
This is a subset of https://golang.org/cl/20022 with only the copyright header lines, so the next CL will be smaller and more reviewable. Go policy has been single space after periods in comments for some time. The copyright header template at: https://golang.org/doc/contribute.html#copyright also uses a single space. Make them all consistent. 2016-01-08runtime: allow signal.Ignore of user-generated throwing signalsRuss Cox
Today, signal.Ignore(syscall.SIGTRAP) does nothing while signal.Notify(make(chan os.Signal), syscall.SIGTRAP) correctly discards user-generated SIGTRAPs. The same applies to any signal that we throw on. Make signal.Ignore work for these signals. Fixes #12906. 2015-12-29runtime: move test programs out of source code, coalesceRuss Cox
Now there are just three programs to compile instead of many, and repeated tests can reuse the compilation result instead of rebuilding it. Combined, these changes reduce the time spent testing runtime during all.bash on my laptop from about 60 to about 30 seconds. (All.bash itself runs in 5½ minutes.) For #10571.
