From f6c71f81f9f597d94b95828b5f70f01283a56202 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2022 09:14:01 +0100 Subject: cache.h: remove always unused show_date_human() declaration MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit There has never been a show_date_human() function on the "master" branch in git.git. This declaration was added in b841d4ff438 (Add `human` format to test-tool, 2019-01-28). A look at the ML history reveals that it was leftover cruft from an earlier version of that commit[1]. 1. https://lore.kernel.org/git/20190118061805.19086-5-ischis2@cox.net/ Signed-off-by: Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano --- cache.h | 2 -- 1 file changed, 2 deletions(-) (limited to 'cache.h') diff --git a/cache.h b/cache.h index 4148b6322d..703a474e5a 100644 --- a/cache.h +++ b/cache.h @@ -1588,8 +1588,6 @@ struct date_mode *date_mode_from_type(enum date_mode_type type); const char *show_date(timestamp_t time, int timezone, const struct date_mode *mode); void show_date_relative(timestamp_t time, struct strbuf *timebuf); -void show_date_human(timestamp_t time, int tz, const struct timeval *now, - struct strbuf *timebuf); int parse_date(const char *date, struct strbuf *out); int parse_date_basic(const char *date, timestamp_t *timestamp, int *offset); int parse_expiry_date(const char *date, timestamp_t *timestamp); -- cgit v1.3 From 88c7b4c3c8d51510d20ebb9990750ad0e97afbfb Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2022 09:14:02 +0100 Subject: date API: create a date.h, split from cache.h MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Move the declaration of the date.c functions from cache.h, and adjust the relevant users to include the new date.h header. The show_ident_date() function belonged in pretty.h (it's defined in pretty.c), its two users outside of pretty.c didn't strictly need to include pretty.h, as they get it indirectly, but let's add it to them anyway. Similarly, the change to "builtin/{fast-import,show-branch,tag}.c" isn't needed as far as the compiler is concerned, but since they all use the "DATE_MODE()" macro we now define in date.h, let's have them include it. We could simply include this new header in "cache.h", but as this change shows these functions weren't common enough to warrant including in it in the first place. By moving them out of cache.h changes to this API will no longer cause a (mostly) full re-build of the project when "make" is run. Add a lazily-loaded pointer to this into `struct repo_settings` Create an `enum fsmonitor_mode` type in `struct fsmonitor_settings` to represent the state of fsmonitor. This lets us represent which, if any, fsmonitor provider (hook or IPC) is enabled. Create `fsm_settings__get_*()` getters to lazily look up fsmonitor- related config settings. Get rid of the `core_fsmonitor` global variable. Move the code to lookup the existing `core.fsmonitor` config value into the fsmonitor settings. Create a hook pathname variable in `struct fsmonitor-settings` and only set it when in hook mode. Extend the definition of `core.fsmonitor` to be either a boolean or a hook pathname. When true, the builtin FSMonitor is used. When false or unset, no FSMonitor (neither builtin nor hook) is used. The existing `core_fsmonitor` global variable was used to store the pathname to the fsmonitor hook *and* it was used as a boolean to see if fsmonitor was enabled. This dual usage and global visibility leads to confusion when we add the IPC-based provider. So lets hide the details in fsmonitor-settings.c and let it decide which provider to use in the case of multiple settings. This avoids cluttering up repo-settings.c with these private details. A future commit in builtin-fsmonitor series will add the ability to disqualify worktrees for various reasons, such as being mounted from a remote volume, where fsmonitor should not be started. Having the config settings hidden in fsmonitor-settings.c allows such worktree restrictions to override the config values used.
